In some parts of the country, about 70% of TB patients were found to have HIV.The Sanac will be developing and coordinating policy and practice to tackle with the problem of HIV and tuberculosis. Sanac will carry out programs to fight with the co-infection which will also include TB-HIV experts. Sanac's CEO, Dr. Nono Simelela said that the guidelines of the program are approved by the International Labour Organisation on the management of TB and HIV in the workplace.The top priority of Sanac is to prevent TB infection in HIV-positive people. The council will be giving six-month prophylactic treatment of Isoniazid or INH to HIV infected people in order to prevent them from TB.
